Windows XP Service Pack 2c

Microsoft has released Service Pack 2c (SP2c) to system builders for the following versions of Windows XP:
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional N
Due to the longevity and success of Windows XP Professional, it has become necessary to produce more product keys for system builders in order to support the continued availability of Windows XP Professional through the scheduled system builder channel end-of-life (EOL) date of January 31, 2009.

SP2c Release and Re-release Details |
Service Pack 2c was released in September 2007 to provide system builders with a new, extended range of product keys that will ship with:
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows XP Professional N
This release does not impact the following versions:
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition
SP2c Features and Requirements
There are no other features or fixes included in this service pack; it will only allow for the inclusion of additional product keys. When using SP2c product keys:
- The keys must be used with SP2c media.
- New images must be created to accommodate the new product keys.
- System builders who use imaging will be required to create a new image from the SP2c release. A hot-fix will not be provided.
SP2c Re-release Fixes Localization Errors
In November 2007, Windows XP Professional SP2c was re-released due to an issue that has been discovered in all localized versions of Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2c:
- Certain screens, including the logon and shutdown screens, appear in English instead of being localized.
- The software has been re-released and is being slipstreamed into existing SKUs.
- New SKUs will not be created.
