How It Works

OPK Master Kit for 2007 Office—System builders preinstall a single master image using the new 2007 Office OPK Master Kit for all the Microsoft Office business suites on new business PCs.

Microsoft Office Business Suites—When a business PC is sold, the system builder markets and sells a 2007 Microsoft Office business suite: Microsoft Office Basic 2007, Office Small Business 2007, or Office Professional 2007.

Medialess License Kit—System builders sell customers a Medialess License Kit, which includes a product key to unlock the suite (Basic, Small Business, or Professional).

60-Day Trial—Users who choose not to buy Microsoft Office immediately with new PCs have a free 60-day trial period, which system builders can help activate.

90-Day Purchase Period—Customers can buy the Medialess License Kit from a system builder within 90 days after the PC sale. The kit will provide the key necessary to unlock the preinstalled software with no additional work by the system builder.

Backup Media—Customers can easily acquire media from Microsoft by following instructions in the kit. Microsoft provides 90-day support.

New Packaging

New Medialess License Kit (MLK) for 2007 Office

System builders provide the MLK to customers who order OEM System Builder 2007 Microsoft Office system software. System builders preinstall the image from the OPK Master Kit and include the MLK in the box with the new PC. The MLK does not contain any backup media.

2007 Office System OPK Master Kit

A system builder's rights to preinstall the 2007 Microsoft Office system are covered in the license that is affixed to the OPK Master Kit for 2007 Office. This license is specific to the 2007 Microsoft Office system and grants system builders the right to preinstall the software onto fully assembled computer systems and distribute the preinstalled software to customers.

Subsequent to preinstallation using this OPK, customers acquire the Medialess License Kit to activate the preinstalled 2007 Office system software.
